Frequently Asked Question about CCRG

Is CCRG in favor of "No Growth"?

Absolutely Not! CCRG favors growth that follows a Land Use Plan and allows for the greatest prosperity for the greatest number of Cherokee County Citizens. The right of a landowner to sell and develop property must be balanced with the rights of abutting property owners to not have a radical change in use by a neighbor diminish their property values, destroy their peaceful enjoyment of property, raise their taxes, add congestion to their roads, overcrowd their children's schools, or overburden public safety.

CCRG promotes property rights that allow a change in land use when the current use allowed by zoning is no longer economically feasible. We support continued growth and development opportunities that provide profit opportunties for the greatest number of stakeholders, while protecting the property values, tax burden, and rights of surrounding landowners.

How are my contributions spent?

100% of CCRG contributions go to support our mission of helping our community achieve responsible growth. Website hosting and maintenance are donated. There are no personnel, office or administrative expenses. Community volunteers donate their time in helping neighborhoods fight incompatible rezonings and there are sometimes expenses for charts, flyers, copying and photo enlargments to help neighborhoods make their points with elected or appointed officials.

Additionally, CCRG occasionally takes out ads endorsing candidates who support responsible growth that follows a Land Use Plan. Developer stakeholders contribute large sums to candidates who support their agenda of unrestrained growth. CCRG can help level the playing field by supporting responsible growth candidates at the City, County, and State levels.

When CCRG holds meetings, the facilities charge small fees for the meeting room.

Finally, there are some expenses for email accounts maintained to communicate with members.
